We all mourn the passing of Horse DUIs. The highlight of my misadventure in Pierre were the arrests of drunken horsemen.

I would have more sympathy for the Legislature's attempt to fight federal regulations if this our legislature didn't recently cave to the Puritans in DC. Until this session, South Dakota's drinking age would have automatically reverted to 18 if the feds were defeated. No more. [1] (Hat-tip to Brendan of I Hate Linux [2] for the news) (I may be reading that law wrong, but I doubt it.)

Daschle has taken some very east-coast stands [3], but it seems likely he's hoping Hillary implodes, and then can run as the insider from the plains.

[1] http://legis.state.sd.us/interim/2004/drafts/0023.pdf
[2] http://ihatelinux.blogspot.com/
[3] http://www.tdaxp.com/archive/2005/06/16/tom_daschle_speculation_homosexualist_south_dakota_values.html
