The Most Successful Presidency in Latin American History?

Really an amazing article:

Editorial – Colombia’s Chance – Editorial – NYTimes.com

Essentially, “Uribe’s won the Colombian Civil War: what is left is the demobilization of a number of small gangs and the safe liberation of hostages.”

The Democratic Congress’s response to winning the war: no free trade with Colombia.

Well Pelosi first gave all sorts of reasons about death of union people and child work standards and such, but then she made another statement which revealed the real reason behind the stalling here.

She said in effect that the FTA is being held as a bargaining chip for a larger bailout she wants for the sub prime loan issue.

However I do believe that she does harbor issues with Columbia and the outcome you suggest based on her other behaviors and past actions.

    Observer,

    Great comment!

The Congressional Democrats are beyond parody.

They are like Lou Dobbs, if somehow he controlled a branch of government.
