Obama as the Worst Shot

by tdaxp ~ June 4th, 2008

The Democratic Primary race is over, with South Dakota’s last-in-the-nation primary brining the fight to a close. Looking at the map is informative, as most of South Dakota’s neighbors already “voted” in caucuses. South Dakota went for Hillary by 11 points, in spite of an endorsement by former Majority Leader Tom Daschle. Most of South Dakota’s neighbors went for Obama.

This implies that Barack Obama’s support within the Democratic Party has seriously eroded since earlier this year (likely), that Barack Obama does better in caucuses than in elections where the old and the working can vote (likely), or both (also likely).

Obama now limps past the finish line, Obama’s all but certainly won the majority of Democratic delegates, while Clinton wins a pluraity of Democratic votes. Thus, November will likely see a race between John McCain and Barack Obama.

As someone who wants what good things for our country, it’s disturbing that Barack Obama is one step closer to becoming President. We already had Jimmy Carter, and he didnt’ work out. But as someone who wants what’s best for the Republican Party, I need to thank the Democratic party machine. They will chose the most racially and chronically divisive viable candidate, one who gives the Republicans the best shot of winning the Presidency and America the best shot at a divided government.

So to Democrats who supported Barack Obama: thank you. Just keep up the crazy talk (Obama will end the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan; Obama doesn’t believe in war as a tool of policy; Obama will meet with hostile foreign leaders regardless of the circumstances, etc). I already know that Obama supports both sides of every policy (Obama will implement a Surge in Afghanistan; Obama will invade Pakistan, Obama will not meet with Iran unless his preconditions are met, etc). He just can do the most damage to himself if his supporters emphasizes the crazier sides he supports.

“that Barack Obama does better in caucuses than in elections where the old and the working can vote (likely), or both (also likely).”

That’s funny, the caucus I went to mostly had people that looked like they were at least 50, and I could probably count those my age on both hands with a turnout of 140-150. Of course, I am sure that particular caucus defied the odds.

“while Clinton wins a pluraity of Democratic votes.”

And you could have anti-Hillary, obstructionist Republican activist to thank for that. Before you go and say, “Well, Democratic activist do that as well blah blah blah,” I will let you know I fully acknowledge that.

“Obama doesn’t believe in war as a tool of policy”

I don’t recall supporters ever assuming he is a pure pacifist, but keep up the the transparent straw man talk as it could lead towards sympathy for Obama.

    “Obama will invade Pakistan”

I could take this opportunity to lambaste McCain and say, “McCan’s a apeassser of Wizarersten yeaaaa haw,” but I can agree that all courses of military action should be scrutinized.

I think these are some others:

    Obama will cool the earth.

An Obama administration will be for good schools.

Obama will make both Sunrises and Sunsets prettier.

Obama will make hippies smell less.

Obama through the eloquence of his rhetoric will convince anti-US terrorist to take up ceramics and perhaps hacky-sack instead of terrorism related activity.

Obama’s health care plan will increase lifespans and decrease headache frequency. Plus it will be paid for by greedy corporations and fat cats.

    Jeffrey,

    Interesting point on cross-party voters.

Clearly there’s been attempts by conservative voters to support Hillary Clinton. Likewise, Obama has refused to condemn black liberation theology while (in the past, at least) actively courting communists [1]. From this, is it reasonable to conclude that Clinton is a more moderate figure than Obama?

Regarding Obamapacifists: [2]. Still, I assume these folks are as deluded as the Obamanicans.

    Lol!

““that Barack Obama does better in caucuses than in elections where the old and the working can vote (likely), or both (also likely).”

I take this to mean that both old and working class voters are more involved with the general election than they are the primary’s? Is this deduction accurate?

Jeffrey there’s a very clear Obama demographic and it is people under the age of 30 (some accounts put 60% of them behind Obama.)
