   Looks like two bad things at once: (1) the usual Hollywood mockery of our military, and (2) showing our training methods to the enemy.

   The presumption of #1 is that these methods are a farce, a waste of money, and don’t work. From what I have read, that is wrong.

   I went through a training cycle at NTC in 2000. Back then, we were still training for the big war against the Soviets.

   you are correct regarding Hollywood’s portrayal of the military. HBO had a min-series about a Marine unit in Iraq that portrayed them as racist, blood thirsty, sexist, incompetent, homophobes. In many ways I consider Hollywood’s portrayal of the military to be 5GW, with the purpose of demonizing, weakening, and mocking an institution that they consider to be “fascist.” At the same time they’ll glorify criminals, drug users, and terrorists. Mel Gibson is the exception.

   Are there any documentaries of these war games, back before the focus on terrorism?
