I am tdaxp
by tdaxp ~ June 28th, 2009
And my wife was denied boarding on a UAL flight from Beijing Capital Airport to San Francisco, California, this morning.
The problem appears to be two nonsensical dates on my wife’s green card. The physical green card implies (so says United) her permanent residency began before we were married, before we contacted our lawyer, and so on.
Tomorrow (June 30, 2009), my wife and I have an appointment at the US Embassy in Beijing, China, at 2:00 PM.
To this meeting, I will bring as much paperwork concerning our marriage and my wife’s immigration status as possible. some of this is in the form of informal online journal entries either published to the blog “tdaxp” (available at www.tdaxp.com), or in other documents downloaded from through tdaxp.com
This site, tdaxp.com, is my personal web site. I am the only regular authors. All references to “I,” “me,” “myself,” “tdaxp,” etc., refer to me. All references to “my wife,” “Lady of tdaxp,” “Fei,” and so on, refer to my wife.

Damn it.
Here’s hoping the bureaucrats apply a little common sense, and quickly. It if helps, I’m sure your readers could independently testify to what you wrote, and when. If the problem is with United, and not the Chinese government, that’s reason for hope. A little support for you from the embassy could give the idiot who fouled this up enough CYA to back down and fix it.

Dan and Fei: Good luck getting this sorted out.
Today is the Feast of St. Peter and Paul — I will ask them to intercede for you both.

The Chinese government’s granting of an extended stay visa for me, back this spring, certainly reduces the stress of this situation. I am able to stay with my wife as needed.
The kindness of an officer at the US Embassy in Beijing granted us our meeting tomorrow, which we are thankful for.
Eddie and his wife offer their prayers as well. Together with the Saints, that’s a winning team!

When you’d said you were flying back on United I didn’t want to say anything about it out of fear that it might hex you… it seems though that even in my silence their ineptitude has struck again.
Let this be a lesson to you… don’t fly United if you want to get to your destination on time and unmolested.
Here’s hoping it’s a simple matter that the Embassy will be able to sort out nice and quick.

If its a United issue I sure would hate to be the cust. svc mgr having to explain away this and make up for it…

Sorry to hear about the problems…hope it all works out!

Praying for you.

I will update everyone as to how it goes, and we appreciate all the kindness & prayers.
Curtis, sorry for deleting the comment! The purpose of the wording of this post is so I can open the blog at the officer’s request, so he knows that tdaxp.com is me, instead of some guy I am impersonating!

LOL I think I knew that. Do our representatives in China have no humor? I guess best not to find out!

I’ll answer after the meeting

I get the feeling the day Fei swears her oath of citizenship will have the same happiness as a mortgage-burning party. Good luck!

HistoryGuy99,
Thanks. The next confusion is whether we have to file a form I-195 [1]…
Michael,
Heh. Or the day that the world gets serious about biometric passports. I’m pretty sure a retina is harder to fake than a green card!
