New Green Card Production Ordered
by tdaxp ~ September 3rd, 2009
Wow — that was fast. Tomorrow we were scheduled to have an “InfoPass” appointment, because of the need to have some temporary proof of my wife’s legal status while we waited for a new green-card to print. We had received contradictory information from Homeland Security, with a letter saying that we owed nothing and a website saying we owed around a hundred dollars. However, today we received an email and a web-page update saying that card production has been ordered, and we should receive the new card in the mail in about a week.

I’m still unclear on this: are you or are you not expecting an invoice with the card? ;-\

Excellent question!
I don’t know.
We received an official letter, dated August 8, in which “Total Balance Due” is given as $0.00, with the Applicant Petitioner Fee, Biometrics Fee, and Total Amount Received also listed as $0.00.
Until yesterday, if you typed in our receipt number online, it read that the fee was insufficient, and a letter was sent out the 9th or so instructing us how to proceed.
Then, yesterday, we get an email saying card production has been ordered. Type in our receipt number, and it says the same.
The form instructions are explicit that we don’t need to pay the applicant/petitioner fee to replace a card when the initial mistake was on their end. It is ambiguous about the biometrics fee.
