China News

by tdaxp ~ December 23rd, 2009

While a deal on double taxation will wait for another day, China and Taiwan signed three more agreements to bring their economies closer. (More properly, the agreements were made between Taiwan’s “Straits Exchange Foundation” and China’s “Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Strait,” as China and Taiwan do not recognize each other, and the KMT and the Communists are technically at war). The Taiwan Straits is the one area of the world where a war could do as much damage as World War I. It is important that the Chinese and Taiwanese view each other as business partners, not as enemies. The current warming of relations between Taiwan and China speaks well for the future of peace in the world.

The benefits of this are many. For instance, the Chinese Navy (technically, the People’s Liberation Army Navy) can focus on fighting Somali pirates.

Strange Nazis

by tdaxp ~ December 22nd, 2009

Ignácz Timonthy Trebitsc-Lincoln, a Hungarian Jew and former Member of the Parliament of the United Kingdom, worked for the Empire of Japan and attempted to interest the Nazis in leading a worldwide Buddhist revolution. Among his fans were Henrich Himmler (who would later commit suicide in prison, in 1945) and Rudolf Hess (who would later commit suicide in prison, in 1987).

Trebitsc-Lincoln, under the name Chao Kung (照空, which would now be spelled Zhao Kong) would reside under the Collaborationaist Nanjing Government’s protection until his own death, in 1943. The Collaborationists were lead by Wang Jingwei, the most influential leftist in the KMT, former Chairman of the KMT, and former Prime Minister of the Republic of China, who tried (and failed) to keep Soviet advisers in China after the KMT’s first purge of the Chinese Communists in the 1920s.

Olbermann Prefers Jail to ObamaCare

by tdaxp ~ December 18th, 2009

MSNBC Anchor Keith Olbermann promises civil disobedience if ObamaCare passes

Most people are not as lucky at Mr. Olbermann, in their ability to fight the law. But good luck to him. His fight against ObamaCare — which may involve going to jail and conviction in federal court — is a stand for freedom.

Models

by tdaxp ~ December 17th, 2009

The battle between Vladimir Putin and Al Gore is simultaneously humorous and tragic. After breaking the Climategate scandal, the Russians are now exposing more faulty data.

Second, Catholicgauze links to a description of rapid global warming starting around 1850… and then zooms out for context

Finally, anyone inclined to take academic models too seriously should see this clip featured on Zenpundit: Beatles 3000.

Auditing Power

by tdaxp ~ December 13th, 2009

MacLeans has a fascinating profile of the man who helped break ClimateGate…  Stephen McIntyre, the man behind Climate Audit

And Rolling Stone has an uneven must read on our President: “Obama’s Big Sellout

Read them both.
